The UN wanted to hear directly from Greenlandic associations in Denmark about our experiences and the challenges Greenlanders living in Denmark face. Here we brought attention to the present challenges and recommendations to the UN Special Envoy.

The UN Special Envoy for Indigenous Peoples Rights has a mandate from the UN Human Rights Council to promote effective protection of indigenous peoples rights, gather information on challenges related to the implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and make constructive and concrete recommendations to improve indigenous peoples living conditions. Following the visit to Denmark and Greenland, the UN Special Envoy presented an official report on the visit to the UN Human Rights Council with concrete recommendations to the government and other actors.
