In my quest to connect with other Indigenous psychologist, Indigenous movements and my curiosity about how other Indigenous Peoples elevate their wellbeing through a re-indigenisation of their way of living, Keri who is a community psychologist and Māori Mana Wahine, was kind enough to take me in and meet me in Aotearoa.
She took me to her Iwi in Hamilton and showed me the community work they are doing to strengthen their youth in connection with nature through indigenous ways.
Focusing on their youth and reconnecting with their culture, practices and nature, they have managed to increase the quality and living standard among the youth and in her Iwi. They focus on having a holistic frame and mindset in working with mental health through community focused values and work, which is sustainable with their environment and nature.
